Mrigya

I stumbled upon this fusion band by chance and have since liked what they have to offer.

Mrigya has a good blend of tabla and the guitar and more.. The more i listen to it, the more i feel the urge to learn tabla. Their pauses are at the right times. Their use of sanskrit verses appear apt. The female voices too!

The navigation is easy and more, you can download their songs! I would suggest you do it rightaway before they change their mind ;) Spending some time on their website isn't a bad idea.

I hope they'll have a concert in Bangalore soon.

Anyway, an extract from their website:
An Indian band in global village. Where every member of the audience is a citizen of the world. No matter where he comes from, or what he speaks, he understands Mrigya. This is possible due to the musical diversity of the band which comes together as a unique sound. A sound which rises above nationality and language. A sound which is a culture of its own. A sound which unites the world as one family “Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam*
A google search also produced this review.

Hey. I was wondering if you could give me the band's email id. What has happened to their site?

Sleepyface said...

@carpe diem,

I'm surprised their website is taken off. I hope the band still plays. and, nope, I don't have their email id..

Mind of an unknown said...

I am surprised myself.

Anyway, seems like you enjoy good music. Heard of Shakti I am sure. 'Lotus Feet' and 'Sakhi' are 2 fab songs by them - check them out on you tube.

Yes, the download link has expired. I would really like to download the tracks off their album (the one with the orange cover). ...the CD I bought at one of their concerts in Singapore in 2004 skips unusably now. I've written to them and asked to buy a new one but no luck.

Can anyone help? Thank you.
