Its the festive season. Everywhere you turn you see only sweets. You hear the word sweet every 5 seconds. The biological calendar within me had adjusted itself to this season and it was screaming to be fed with sweets. In this state of mind, body and soul, I woke up to the first day of the three day festivities. There were three sweet boxes in the kitchen. I reached for the morning coffee and thankfully over came my obsessive compulsion to pick the sweet instead. Mind you, when I say morning, I mean 0700hrs. Coffee tasted bitter with the news of train derailment and bomb blasts in Delhi.
After ritualistic puja, I had an eye to eye contact with gulab jamun. It seemed to tease me with its fluffy outers. with the help of a spoon, I buoyed it up and thence proving muscular force sometimes can be greater than its gravitational counterpart, esp when it comes to the matters of edibles rich with saccharin. The sugar syrup formed droplets in such a way that it seem'd to me that the item in the spoon was shedding tears. The sense of smell rose to such extentst that every cell in my mouth got ready for the act.
"Bring him on, buddy!" said the teeth in unison. the tongue became restless wandering hither and thither, profusely sweating, which the homosapiens choose to refer to as, saliva. the eyes were filled with joy. ears refused to hear my mom shout don't you dare touching it without offering it to God. In essence, what started with the sixth sense in the morning, started spreading to all other senses.
In a swift action, I took the whole thing in. One second after this the status stood thus: tongue bathing in saccharin, teeth busy crushing and releasing saccharin into the body, eyes closed, ears closed, lower jaw moving up and down, the whole body - still, without movement.
One minute later: tongue searching for itsy bitsy pieces between the teeth. teeth, lending itself to the atrocities of the tongue. eyes open. ears open. hands considering whacking another one of the edible predecessor. legs, carrying the body away from the scene
This event repeated every approximately 30-45 minutes. At the end of days play, there was saccharin all over in the mouth, in the cavities, on the tongue, in the cells, at every damn place, leading to unusual numbness...!!
